Men’s Streetwear Outfit: Matching Tie-Dye Set

Supplies Needed:

Tulip Tie-Dye Party Kit

100% cotton T-shirt and shorts

Plastic wrap or sealable plastic bag

Wire rack

Step 1 Prewash, fold & bind fabrics

Before you get started on your men’s tie-dye shirt and shorts, prewash your fabrics to remove sizing. Fold your fabrics as desired, then secure with rubber bands. Rob Hill used the crumple technique to create a men’s streetwear outfit with colorful abstract patterns!

Step 2 Prepare tie-dye solutions

Prepare your tie-dye solutions by adding water to the dye bottles, filling to the neck. Replace the cap tightly and shake well until dye powder is fully dissolved. For this colorful tie-dye set, Rob Hill used black, orange, teal, turquoise, and blue dyes from the Tulip Tie-Dye Party Tub.

Step 3 Apply dyes

It’s time to add color to this men’s streetwear outfit! Place your fabrics onto a wire rack above a protected work surface. To create your men’s tie-dye shirt, apply dyes and use gloved hands to work the dyes into the folds of the fabric as needed. Create a matching tie-dye set by applying dyes in a similar pattern onto the shorts. Flip your fabrics over and repeat on the other side.

Step 4 Wrap and let set

Once you’ve finished applying dye to both the T-shirt and shorts, place your tie-dye set into a sealable plastic bag or cover with plastic wrap. Allow the dyes to set for 6-8 hours or overnight for more vibrant results. Your unique men’s streetwear outfit is almost ready to wear!

 Step 5 Reveal!

After the dyes have set, rinse, wash in cool water with a little laundry detergent, and dry your men’s tie-dye shirt and shorts. Rob Hill completed this men’s streetwear outfit with neutral sneakers and a bright orange trucker hat to complement the bursts of orange on his DIY tie-dye set!
